Theme 1: Shades of Blue

Blue is undoubtedly the color of the year, flooding the interior design scene with various tones that suit every style and ambiance. Upon writing this, out of all of the announced colors of the year, two-thirds of the results have been blue. And it’s easy to see why! Blue’s versatility and calming nature make it an easy pick for designers and homeowners alike. Let’s use a few companies’ color of the year winners to break this choice down further into light, medium, and dark tones.

Light Blues:

Bring a sense of upliftment and peace into your home with pastel shades like Upward by Sherwin-Williams. These types of serene blues are bright and breezy, providing the perfect backdrop for your decor. Whether you choose to paint your walls, ceiling, or furniture, light blue is bound to transform your space with its calming aura.

Medium Blues:

If it’s a happy medium blue you’re looking for, then you have no shortage of options. Benjamin Moore’s Blue Nova offers a harmonious blend of earthy and coastal influences. With its rich and grounded tone, it radiates timeless elegance, making it an ideal pick for modern and traditional styles alike.

Alternatively, try Skipping Stones by Dunn Edwards. With a name tied to the sensation of a relaxing day by the water, this tranquil and balanced blue pairs perfectly with whites, gold, and natural elements like rattan.

Dark Blues:

For those seeking depth and mystery, try Behr’s Cracked Pepper, a deep charcoal hue that adds a touch of sophistication to your home. Use it to highlight architectural elements, as a backdrop for artwork, or accentuate it with warm lighting to create a majestic ambiance.

Theme 2: Peachy Pinks

Although blue is certainly making its mark, as 2024 color trends go, there is one other theme that stands out. Much like the clay infused shades of last year, pink is still a popular color choice going into 2024; however, this time we’re introducing a bit more orange into the mix! Completely on brand for this 2024 color trend, Pantone’s Peach Fuzz is the perfect combination of saturation and subtlety, creating a space that feels energizing and calming all at once.

Peaches aren’t the only fruit infused color gracing our walls in 2024 though. HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams‘ Persimmon is also a welcome addition to the upcoming years color pallet. Leaning slightly more orange, this gorgeous color plays perfectly as a middle point between stark whites and dark woods.
